Editing Windows textFind 6 quick tips following below to help you rearrange and edit text in most Windows programs. These keyboard shortcuts will make your windows text editing tasks much easier while at the same time - increase your productivity. We'll use notepad as our editor and type out a line or two of text - like in the picture on the left.

The first three quick keys or, keyboard shortcuts, that we'll use are the SHIFT key, the HOME key and the END key. To begin, just tap your HOME and END keys a few times. See how the cursor jumps from the beginning of the line to the end of the line? Once you've got that down pat we're now going to select a line of text - using the Windows SHIFT key.

Editing Windows textWith your cursor at the beginning of your text line, hold down the SHIFT key and tap once - lightly - on your END key. See how the text gets selected and blocked off with a colored background?

Next, tap your right arrow key once - to deselect the text - hold down your SHIFT key and tap once - lightly - on your HOME key. See how the line of text gets selected again? This time from back to front!

Now, the next quick key to play with is the CTRL key. This time instead of holding down the SHIFT key let's hold down the CTRL key followed by the HOME or END keys again.

See how CTRL-HOME jumps to the beginning of the document - rather than the line beginning - and CTRL-END jumps from the cursor point to the end of the document - rather than the end of the line.

1),,, Play with HOME and END a few more times
2)... Play with SHIFT-HOME and SHIFT-END a few times.
3)... Play with CTRL-HOME and CTRL-END a few times.

And finally, remember how SHIFT-HOME and SHIFT-END selected text from the cursor location to the end - or beginning - of your text line? Well, in just the same way SHIFT-CTRL-HOME and SHIFT-CTRL-END will select all text from the cursor location to the beginning - or end - of your document! Try this:

1)... CTRL-HOME
2)... SHIFT-END
3)... Right Arrow -->
4)... SHIFT-CTRL-END
5)... Right Arrow -->
6)... SHIFT-CTRL-HOME
7)... HOME

Now you can move around your document selecting text or email just like the pros do!

XP Keyboard ShortcutsIf you never use any other Windows XP Keyboard Shortcuts then at least find the time to use these 4 useful, productive and time-saving Keyboard Shortcuts. They will make your computing life much simpler and you'll have a much easier time when editing your documents and/or emails.

The diagram on the left is showing us to hold down one key followed by another. So, for example, to undo the last mistake we just made - we use the "oops" key.

From the diagram this means that we hold down the CTRL Key while at the same time tapping the letter Z. Then, let them both go. Voila. everything is back to where it was before the last mistake!

The other 3 Keyboard shortcuts work the same way as the "oops" keys above. First, select the text that you want to cut or copy and then, Hold down the CTRL Key and tap the letter C or X - to copy or cut your selected text. Next, position your cursor where you want to insert the copied text, Hold down your CTRL Key and tap the letter V. See how the edited text now "pastes" itself into your document. Now you know how to cut and paste in Windows XP just like the pros do!
